A new Indian street food spot and lounge has opened in Milton, bringing bold flavours and a chic, vibrant atmosphere.

Karma Social Lounge, located in the Milton Common plaza at 840 Main St. E., officially opened its doors on Jan. 17, offering a modern fusion of traditional Indian dishes.

For those craving light bites, the menu includes tapas such as “fryums” (colourful, crunchy wafer treats) and masala papad (crispy papadams topped with a spiced mix of onions, tomatoes, chillies and herbs).

The mango salad (featuring fresh mangoes, veggies, and tangy dressing with an option to add chicken) is another refreshing option.

Street food lovers can indulge in jalebi chaat (chef-recommended crispy jalebis paired with chickpeas, potatoes, yogurt, chutneys and pomegranate) or veg galouti kebab (soft, vegetarian patties made with kidney beans, potatoes and spices).

For heartier appetites, must-try’s are the karma kofta (spinach koftas stuffed with paneer and cooked in a rich tomato gravy), the signature butter chicken (boneless chicken in a tomato butter sauce), or Peshawari mutton kadhai (slow-cooked lamb with house spices).

Patrons can complement their meal with sides like biryani (a fragrant rice dish available in veg, chicken, or lamb), jeera rice (basmati rice with cumin seeds), or saffron rice. There are also bread options like tandoori roti or garlic naan.

Don’t forget to save room for desserts, including Cassata Karma (vibrant layers of ice cream with dry fruits and chocolate chips) or the Fusion Trio (a medley of desserts featuring Rasmalai Tres Leches, Biscoff and Tiramisu).

Lunch specials are available on weekdays for takeout only and includes options like butter chicken poutine, chicken wrap with peri peri fries, and chana bhatura (fluffy deep-fried bread served with chickpeas, raita, onions and pickle).

If you’re looking for drinks, the menu includes unique mocktails like Amber Glow (mango puree, orange juice, and sparkling water) and Pink Reverie (grapefruit juice, raspberry syrup, and soda). Patrons can pair them with classic beer selections like Heineken or Kingfisher.

Karma Social Lounge is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. Whether you’re stopping by for a full meal or a quick drink, this spot offers something for every taste.
