The City of Brampton is accepting applications for its training process from vendors that intend to sell fireworks for Diwali.

Vendors must complete this training before they will be legally permitted to sell fireworks in Brampton.

Due to the pandemic, training has been moved to an online format, and consists of watching the Fireworks Retailer Training Video, as well as Fireworks Retailer Questionnaire.

Licenses can then be obtained in-person from City Hall via appointment.

Vendors that have multiple locations that intend to sell fireworks must have at least one staff member from each location obtain a license before they can do so.

Those who intend to sell fireworks in preparation of Diwali must obtain their license by October 15, while those who wish to sell them in advance of New Year’s Eve must obtain their license by December 10.

City bylaws only allow the sale and personal use of only short-range fireworks, which tend to fly less than three metres or 10 feet when lit, on four occasions each year—Victoria Day, Canada Day, Diwali and New Year’s Eve.
