Trucks and SUVs are part of the latest round of vehicle recalls in Canada.
Two separate Ford recalls are listed on Transport Canada’s website.
Certain 2017 F-150 Ford trucks are being recalled for the second time.
Recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 17C01 (Transport Canada recall no. 2017-040) may not have been done correctly, according to a June 19 notice on Transport Canada’s website. As a result, a second repair is required.
On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the instrument panel cluster screen not to display when the vehicle is started.
“As a result, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the gear selection, speedometer, warning lights and malfunction tell-tales,” the notice reads. “Warnings, gauges, gear selection and tell-tale indicators that don’t display could increase the risk of a crash.”
A total of 240 vehicles are impacted.
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to update the instrument panel cluster software.
In a separate recall, Ford Expedition SUVs from 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 may have issues with the chrome plating on the centre console.
On certain vehicles, the chrome plating could bubble and peel. If this happens, sharp edges can be created, the recall states.
“Exposed sharp edges can increase the risk of injury,” the recall states.
A total of 16,208 vehicles are impacted.
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise owners to take their vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the centre console.
