A driver suffered only minor injuries after a collision in Mississauga last night (Aug 19) thanks to the successful performance of crash cushions on Hwy 403.

Members of the OPP Highway Safety Division responded to a single vehicle collision on eastbound Hwy 403 just past Eglinton Ave. after receiving reports of a car striking a barrier.

Officers arrived on scene to find a vehicle with significant damage to the front passenger side.

An initial investigation determined that the vehicle hit the end of a cement barrier and escaped further damage thanks to the barrier’s end treatment.

A crash cushion absorbed the vehicle’s energy and slowed it down more efficiently than a blunt impact would have.

Police say there were only minor injuries sustained as a result of the collision.

Members of the Mississauga OPP continue to investigate the cause of this incident.

Drivers in the area at the time of the collision with dashcams are encouraged to contact the Mississauga detachment of the OPP at 905-858-8670.
