Vehicle fire shuts down part of major road near highway in Mississauga

A vehicle fire in Mississauga’s east end has closed part of a major road near a busy highway on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Peel Regional Police said the car fire at Eastgate Parkway and Cawthra Road was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. and it has been “contained and extinguished.”

Police didn’t say if anybody was injured in the incident.

Northbound Cawthra Road to Highway 410 has been closed as has the southbound off-ramp from the highway to Cawthra Road, police said.

Police are telling drivers to use alternate routes.
