Hit-and-run crash Brampton Caledon hit and run

An early morning crash that saw a Caledon driver end up in a ditch has led to an impaired driving charge.

The OPP says officers from the Caledon detachment got a call shortly before 7 a.m. on Tuesday about a vehicle in a ditch near King Street.

Police say one vehicle was involved in the crash and when officers arrived at the scene they had reason to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol.

The 19-year-old driver from Caledon was arrested and police say they were charged with one count of operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Police say the vehicle that ended up in the ditch was impounded for seven days, while the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Feb. 8 to answer the charges.

If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, police say to call 911 to report it when safe to do so. You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visiting www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
