A driver was clocked travelling nearly double the speed limit in Hamilton.

A vehicle was caught going 155 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone on Redhill Valley Parkway, Hamilton Police Service said in a tweet today (April 27).

Police seized the driver’s licence and the driver faces a 30-day suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

As the driver was caught travelling more than 50 km/hr over the 80 km/hr limit, they could face stunt driving penalties.

Fines for those found guilty of stunt driving are from $2,000 to $10,000.

Upon conviction, drivers face further penalties, including a one to three-year driver’s licence suspension, six demerit points, mandatory driver improvement courses, and up to six months in jail.
