Vandals smash windows at old Burlington school

Four young vandals have left their mark at an abandoned Burlington high school.
The group was spotted smashing windows at Robert Bateman High School on Friday night (April 14) but got away just before police arrived at the scene.
According to reports the four caused about $5,000 worth of damage to the school that has sat empty since 2020.
Halton Regional Police say they are investigating but so far have very few details to go on and don’t have descriptions of the suspects other than they were likely teenagers.
Named after noted Canadian artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman once taught at the site when it was called Lord Elgin High School.
The building is now owned by the City of Burlington and is to be converted into a community centre.
Anyone with information about the vandals can call police at 905-825-4747 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
