Residents on a portion of St. David’s Road (Regional Road 71) in both St Catharines and Thorold are being asked to prepare themselves two days next week as workers will be shutting down their water to upgrade a watermain from July 7 at 7 am to July 8 at 7 am.

In a release, the Region said they expect water service will not be majorly affected at any homes or businesses in adjacent subdivisions. However, they did note nearby homes and businesses could possibly see lower water pressure, as well as quality issues, such as odour and colour.

“We understand these repairs may cause some inconveniences,” the release said. “However, these upgrades are necessary. If there were to be an unexpected failure of this infrastructure, the impact would be far greater with a possible loss of water service for several days for emergency repair.”

“By completing this upgrade work now, we can plan ahead for this service disruption and ultimately make Niagara Region’s water system more reliable and secure.”

Any St Catharines homes facing issues because of the repairs can call 905-688-5600. Thorold homes should call 905-227-6613.
