Removing racial barriers, strengthening inclusion and advancing equity are all part of a new strategy endorsed by the City of Brampton.
The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy is a two-year plan designed to impact operations at the city level and its relationship with the broader community.
According to a report, the strategy is a proactive approach to the city’s commitment to advancing equity, removing systemic barriers, and fostering a culture of belonging for both employees and beyond City Hall.
“Developed through cross-departmental collaboration and guided by feedback from city staff, the strategy provides a roadmap for meaningful and measurable change,” according to a city news release.
The strategy is based on four key pillars meant to improve workplace culture, leadership development and community partnerships while embedding inclusion across all levels of the organization :
- Diverse and equitable workforce
- Community engagement
- Foster and create a culture of belonging
- Identify and address systemic barriers
“This strategy reflects our continued commitment to building an even more inclusive Brampton,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “By identifying and addressing barriers, the city is taking clear steps to support a workplace and community where every individual is treated with dignity and respect. The EDI Strategy will help guide our efforts to serve all Bramptonians more equitably and effectively.”
