Several lanes both on and near the QEW in Mississauga in addition to on- and off-ramps will shut down to traffic this week as work continues on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

According to the latest update from officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work, two lanes of the westbound QEW between Hurontario Street and Erin Mills Parkway will be closed from 10 p.m. tonight (Sept. 26) until 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Specifically, lane one will shut down between the aforementioned hours while lane two will be closed from 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., officials say.

In addition, the QEW westbound off-ramp to Hurontario Street and on-ramps to westbound QEW from Hurontario Street (both northbound and southbound) will be fully closed from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, one lane on South Sheridan Way by the QEW, between Gallant Drive and Indian Grove, will close down to traffic on both Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., project leaders say.

Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times under flagging conditions.

Motorists are also reminded that four lanes on the QEW in Mississauga will shut down to traffic each night/overnight for the next three weeks — including weekends — until Oct. 13.

A pair of eastbound lanes from Erin Mills Parkway to the Credit River Bridge and two westbound lanes between Hurontario Street and Erin Mills Parkway will be impacted by the closures.

The closures will take place at various times between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. the following mornings, according to officials.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures have been commonplace since 2022 both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive project that began two years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario Street to Mississauga Road is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
