UPDATE: One person killed as shots rang out at an Ontario casino

There was a shooting last night in Pickering.

According to Durham Regional Police, there was a shooting that left one person with critical injuries after gunfire rang out at a Pickering Casino and Resort.

Police said one person was injured and suffered life-threatening injuries at the Casino, located near Church Street and Highway 401.

A portion of the casino remains closed as police investigate the shooting.

Police are asking people to stay clear of the area for the time being.

There is no other information about arrests.

UPDATE:

• 7:30 a.m. – The victim has been pronounced deceased in hospital, and the Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
• 6:00 a.m. – A portion of the casino still remains closed
