UPDATE: Arrest made in fatal hit-and-run in Hamilton

Daniel Wilson, 73, of Hamilton turned himself in to police at the Stoney Creek station Saturday after allegedly killing a 70-year-old pedestrian before driving away.

The hit-and-run occurred Friday shortly before 11:30 a.m. when a 70-year-old female was struck by a grey Ford F150 while walking westbound at the intersection of King St E and Cameron Ave S in Hamilton.

Police say the woman was struck by the front bumper and knocked to the ground before the truck continued to make a left-hand turn and then fled the area.

The woman was taken to hospital before dying.

Wilson is facing charges of:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
  • Fail to remain at a collision

Hamilton Police Service added that the vehicle involved in the incident was also recovered.

Police had been asking businesses and residences in the area to check their security systems for any footage that may assist in the investigation.
