snow travel advisory niagara

Driver’s take note: snowy weather is on the way in parts of southern Ontario.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a travel advisory for the Niagara area today (Jan. 19).

Lake effect snow from Lake Ontario may bring 10 centimetres of snow to parts of Niagara, the advisory states.

The “weak system” could bring two to five centimetres of snow to southwestern Ontario this morning.

Northeasterly winds off Lake Ontario will enhance the snowfall for the Niagara area bringing total amounts of five to 10 cm by late this afternoon, the advisory reads.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” Environment Canada suggests.

The weather is looking much milder and sunny for the weekend.
