If you’re hoping to beat the heat by taking a dip in Lake Ontario, you’ll want to keep in mind that unsafe swimming conditions are currently being reported at two beaches in Hamilton.

That includes Pier 4 Park, which the city says currently has a high E. coli concentration of 72.9 (per 100ml of water), making the water unsafe to swim in.

Swimming is also not advised at the nearby Bayfront Park “due to a history of poor water quality.”

The rest of Hamilton’s beaches along the lake, including Beach Boulevard, Van Wagner’s, and Confederation Park, remain open for swimming at this time.

More information on Hamilton’s beach water quality is available at the city’s website.
