Get cozy, Brampton — a new performance series called Writers at the Rose will kick off at Brampton’s Rose Theatre on February 8, 2018, at 7 p.m.
Audiences will see a wealth of high-profile writers take the stage throughout the series, either performing or doing a live reading of their work, complete with an audience Q&A afterwards.
It’s a good opportunity for anyone to dive into the arts and culture scene, have a unique night out, and cozy up to some good stories right here in Brampton.
The event is brought to Brampton by a partnership between Brampton Library and the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD), an arts organization that holds Brampton’s biggest annual literary festival, is adding this series to their roster of events.
“Every year, the [FOLD] provides a meaningful experience for Brampton residents and visitors,” said Jael Richardson, artistic director of the FOLD in a recent statement. “We wanted to find a way to give people a little taste of that literary goodness throughout the year.
What can you expect at the first event on February 8, 2018?
Well, popular author Karl Subban (father to NHL stars P.K., Malcolm, and Jordan) will be the first writer for the series. Subban has an inspiring story about the journey through hockey leagues, from house league to the big leagues.
Richardson will host a Q&A after the performance, and then there will be a book signing of Subban’s latest release, How We Did It: The Subban Plan for Success in Hockey, School and Life, written with author and journalist Scott Colby.
So if you want to get inspired or check out something different in Brampton, tickets are $10, $15, and $20 — it’s pay what you can of those options.
