With the election looming–and it’s been an ugly campaign, to say the least–you might want to escape the real world for a bit and indulge in a little fantasy.

Local nerds (and we say that with love) might be happy to hear that the Mississauga Comic Expo (MCX) returns on October 18 and 19 as part of Ontario Public Library Week.

The free two-day event features local Mississauga and GTA graphic artists, novelists, creators, designers and developers.

This event, which is perfect for residents of all ages, is hosted by the Mississauga Central Library (301 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W.) and celebrates the diverse culture of comics, gaming, anime, cosplay and art.

Attendees can enjoy an escape room, as well as a range of board, tabletop and card games.

Other activities include a costume creation station, an anime marathon, introduction to Dungeons & Dragons, an Instagram photo booth, sketch challenge and children’s area.

Local artists and exhibitors will also be in attendance.

The 2019 guest lineup includes Marcus To (DC, Marvel Comics), Megan Kearney (Disney Princess), Adam Gorham (Archie Comics, Marvel Comics), Jamal Campbell (DC, Marvel Comics) and many more.

The Friday event will run from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m and feature a game night with tabletop board and card games, Dungeons & Dragons, an escape room and more.

Saturday’s event runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and features a costume creation station, artist alley, exhibitors, workshops, panels, cosplay shoots, tabletop board game demos and video game free-play sessions.

The expo is free to attend.
