Under Donald Trump’s new clampdown, drug dealer ‘deported’ back to Ontario

A man given a 10-year prison sentence for drug trafficking has been deported to Canada under U.S. President Donald Trump’s tough new measures on foreign criminals.

Christopher Anthony Frater, 32, a Canadian citizen of no fixed address in Ontario, has been sent home to serve out the rest of his sentence as part of the Canadian Treaty Transfer program.

He had been serving his time at federal prison in New York.

In July of 2022, Frater was stopped in Nebraska in a rented vehicle on his way from Los Angeles to New York.

Police say the K-9 unit was alerted to the scent of narcotics in the vehicle and a subsequent search found 125 lbs of cocaine, according to police records at the time.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, in 2023 Frater was found guilty of possession of drugs with the intent to distribute and given the 120-month jail term.

Frater was returned by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to Canadian authorities last week to serve out the rest of his time behind bars at an unknown location. Now that he is back in Canada, he may be eligible for early release, according to reports.

Since he has taken over the presidency, Trump has vowed to take a tough stance against foreign criminals and has taken steps to remove them from the U.S. if they pose a risk to American citizens.
