Police have taken a Brampton driver off the road after he was allegedly stopped for going more than double the speed limit in a 70 km/h zone.

Peel Regional Police said around 4 p.m. on Sunday that officers had pulled over the 34-year-old driver of a Jeep who was travelling at an “unacceptable speed” near the intersection of Chinguacousy Road and Dusk Drive.

Police say the male driver was clocked driving 157 km/h in the 70 km/h zone.

The traffic stop led police to suspend the 34-year-old man’s licence for 30 days while the Jeep was impounded for 14 days.
