A driver was tagged by a police radar gun flying through a busy Brampton intersection at nearly twice the speed limit.
The driver, age 24, was headed through the intersection of Mississauga Rd. and Williams Pkwy, a busy commercial zone on the city’s southeastern edge.
Peel Regional Police were monitoring traffic in the area when they recorded the driver at 124 km/h in the intersection which has a speed limit of 70 km/h.
The officers issued the man a Part Three Summons to appear in court on stunt driving and speeding. As a roadside consequence, the driver’s license was suspended for 30 days and his car was impounded for two weeks.
Stunt driving is among Ontario’s harshest driving charges and can result in a year-long license suspension for a first offence and a $250 fine. After a third offence, the driver loses their license for life and is fined up to $450.
