Two women shot in car, Burlington OPP investigate

Two people are in the hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds following an incident along the Burlington and Hamilton border this weekend.

Ontario Provincial Police say the shooting took place along a stretch of Hwy. 6 near Concession 5 Road East around 5 a.m. on Sunday (March 10).

Two women were taken to hospital with their injuries which are considered serious and potentially life-threatening.

Both victims are in their early 20s. Their names have not been released.

According to the Burlington Detachment of the OPP, paramedics were called to the scene following reports of gunfire in the area.

The police investigation closed Hwy. 6 for most of the day on Sunday reopening just after 5:30 p.m.

Police would offer few details about their investigation and it is not known if the women were targeted or if the shooting was random.

No suspect information has been released.
