Two teens arrested and a handgun seized after Pickering traffic stop leads to foot chase

Two men were arrested in Pickering early this morning after they allegedly fled from Durham Regional Police officers, before they were nabbed two towns away.
Shortly after midnight on September 6, DRPS officers spotted a suspicious car near a dealership on Consumers Dr in Whitby. The car ran from the officers and took off west on Hwy 401.
Later that morning, different officers in Pickering spotted the same car on Brock Rd in Pickering. The cops pulled the car over, but two suspect fled from the scene on foot.
After a brief chase the officers arrested two suspects. They also found a loaded pistol nearby with help from the K-9 unit.
Anden Alexander, 18 of Whitby, is charged with fleeing police, occupying a car with gun, possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited and possession of a restricted firearm without a licence or registration.
Jesiah Byer-Coates, 19 of Ajax, is charged with occupying a car with a gun. Alexander remains in custody pending a bail hearing while Byer-Coates was released with conditions.
