Two Suspects Charged With Trafficking Woman in Halton

Halton Police have charged two suspects following a labour trafficking investigation.

Halton Police have charged two suspects following a labour trafficking investigation.

Police allege that the two suspects arranged and facilitated the transportation of an adult female from Africa to Canada in late 2018.  

Police also allege that the victim was exploited for labour purposes in the Halton Region.  

As a result of the investigation, a female suspect from Oakville was arrested on March 20, 2019, and a second female suspect from Montreal was arrested on March 27, 2019.

The suspect from Oakville, according to police, is facing the following alleged charges: trafficking in persons, receive material benefit – trafficking in persons, and withholding documents.

The suspect from Montreal is facing the following alleged charges: withholding documents.

In order to protect the identity of the victim, Halton Police will not be releasing the names of the accused females.
