Fire crews responded to two different fires at homes in Mississauga on Monday.
The first fire broke out in a garage at 5855 10th Line West, near McDowell Drive in Churchill Meadows, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services platoon chief Dave Shaw told INsauga.com.
Crews were called to the blaze at 5:15 p.m., Shaw said.
One person, who attempted to extinguish the fire, experienced minor smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by paramedics, he added.
Shaw said the fire was contained to the garage.
A resident was working on a lawn mower in the garage, and that may have been the cause of the fire, he said. But there is no definitive cause.
About an hour later, crews were called to the second fire at 6599 Glen Erin Dr., an apartment building near Battleford Road in Meadowvale at 6:14 p.m., Shaw said.
The fire was on a balcony on the third floor of the apartment building, he said.
“When crews arrived, flames and smoke were visible on the balcony,” Shaw said.
Crews did what’s called a “blitz attack,” applying water from the outside.
No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the balcony.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Both fires were extinguished fairly quickly.
