UPDATE: Police said the hold-and-secure orders had been lifted shortly before 11 a.m. and said there was “no threat” to the schools.
Police put two Brampton schools on hold-and-secure orders after receiving reports of a “suspicious person” in the area on Thursday.
Peel Regional Police said the person was spotted near Hurontario Street and Bovaird Drive in Brampton shortly after 10 a.m.
Both Heart Lake Secondary School and Conestoga Public School were placed on hold-and-secure orders as a precaution by police and no suspect description has been released.
The incident is the second time in as many weeks that both schools were put on hold-and-secure, as officers were called to the area for reports of a “discarded weapon” on Nov. 7.
Hold-and-secure orders are used by police as a precaution at schools and are considered less serious than a full lockdown.
