Two schools on hold-and-secure after possible weapon sighting in Brampton

Building evacuated in due to 'unknown odour' in Brampton

A pair of schools were been put on hold-and-secure orders while police investigated a possible weapon sighting in Brampton.

Just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, Peel Regional Police said both Heart Lake Secondary School and Conestoga Public School had been placed on a hold-and-secure.

The schools are located on Conestoga Drive, and a police spokesperson tells Insauga.com that officers were called to the area for reports of a “discarded weapon.”

A police spokesperson told Insauga.com that police were in the are investigating.

The hold-and-secure orders were lifted around 2 p.m., but did not say whether a weapon was located.

Hold-and-secure orders are used by police as a precaution at schools, and are considered less serious than a full lockdown.
