Lane closed Burlington construction

Two lanes of the QEW in Mississauga will close to traffic for three consecutive nights/overnights starting tonight (June 2) as crews continue work on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work say two eastbound lanes between Erin Mills Pkwy. and the Credit River Bridge will shut down tonight, Saturday night and Sunday night, reopening the following mornings.

The closures will be in effect:

  • Friday, June 2: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday morning (lane one), 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. (lane two)
  • Saturday, June 3: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. (lane one), 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. (lane two)
  • Sunday, June 4: 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday morning (lane one), midnight to 5 a.m. (lane two)

Meanwhile, nightly lane and periodic ramp closures on the QEW remain in effect through June 17.

Additionally, Premium Way, between Stavebank Rd. and Lynchmere Ave., will be down to one lane on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through June 30, project leaders say.

Officials say two-way traffic will be maintained at all times via flagging operations and all streets and roads will be accessible.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures have been commonplace since last fall both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive project that began well over a year ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work proceeds in the coming months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
