More QEW lane closures in Mississauga will impact traffic

Motorists using the QEW in Mississauga will be faced with yet more lane closures in the next week or so as work continues on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project say two westbound lanes of traffic between Hurontario St. and the Credit River bridge will be impacted in the overnight hours this Wednesday and Thursday (July 20-21) and again next Monday (July 25) and on July 28.

On those nights, the first lane will be closed from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning while the second lane will be shut down from midnight until 5 a.m.

Project officials say the closures are to accommodate ongoing bridge rehabilitation work.

They add some traffic disruptions are anticipated on those nights and that the dates are subject to change. Also, lane closures may not take place on all dates listed.

The summer of QEW nighttime lane closures continues. Yesterday, project officials announced additional closures in the coming weeks.

Overnight westbound lane closures between Hurontario St. and the Mississauga Rd. overpass are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday nights (July 22-23) into early the following mornings, and Aug. 5-6 also into the following mornings.

As work continues on the massive Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.

Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of construction.

After years of planning, work on the new bridge continues to move forward.
