Two major projects in downtown Brampton will see the overhaul of public squares.
Both Ken Whillans Square (in front of City Hall) and Garden Square (northeast corner of Main Street North and Queen Street East) are being “reimagined” to make them more user-friendly for the public as well as to make them become cultural hubs for Brampton.
Several concepts for the squares are being considered and the public will have an opportunity to see what is in store and be able to comment at a public session tomorrow night (May 27).
“This is a great opportunity to view innovative design concepts from five renowned local and international firms and share your thoughts,” reads a statement by the City of Brampton. “Your feedback will serve as one of the evaluation criteria and ensure these spaces reflect the values, needs and aspirations of our community.”
A tour of the area is part of the public presentation and will start at 5 p.m. at Brampton City Hall, 2 Wellington Street West.
The guided tour will examine the historical evolution, current role and future potential of these public spaces.
Then, at 6 p.m., in the City Hall Conservatory, you can explore the proposed design concepts, hear a presentation from city staff, and take part in interactive feedback sessions.
“This is your chance to engage directly with the project team, share your thoughts and help shape the future of Brampton’s vibrant spaces,” says a city release.
