Two people have been transported to hospital after a Monday morning industrial accident in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police responded at 10:55 a.m. after reports of an explosion and furnace fire near the area of Anson Drive and Torbram Road.

Upon arrival, Mississauga Fire found white smoke billowing from the smoke-filled building and the main warehouse fire was extinguished.

Peel Paramedics treated two male patients for reported burns to the head and body. One male was transported to a trauma centre with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The other male was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Two patients declined treatment and transportation to a hospital.

The accident has resulted in road closures in the area, blocking west bound Anson Drive at Torbram Road. Police are asking drivers to use alternate routes.

UPDATE:

The building has been evacuated and the Ministry of Labour has been notified.
