Two people killed in school bus crash with student on board in Caledon

Police are investigating after two people were killed and three others injured when a school bus with a student on board and a passenger vehicle collided this morning in Caledon.

The fatal collision happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday when a passenger vehicle collided with a school bus on Heart Lake Road.

Police said five people were inside the passenger vehicle and a bus driver and student were in the school bus at the time.

One person from the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene while the other four occupants were rushed to hospital in various conditions.

Police now say a second victim has died from their injuries in hospital. No additional details about the victims have been released.

A police spokesperson has confirmed that only one student was on board the school bus and they were not injured in the crash.

All lanes of traffic on Heart Lake Road will be shut down for several hours while investigators are on the scene and drivers should avoid the area or find alternative routes if possible.
