Two pedestrians have been injured after they were both struck by a car in Mississauga minutes apart.

The first crash came shortly before 7 p.m. A pedestrian had been walking near Argentia Rd. and Winston Churchill Blvd., a busy commercial zone, when they were hit.

The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital. However, the driver took off from the scene. Peel Regional reported the hit-and-run shortly before 9 p.m when they described the car as a white sedan.

Ten minutes later police reported a second person had been hit. This 911 call came in shortly after 8 p.m after a pedestrian was hit near Derry Rd. and Dixie Rd., another busy intersection about 15 minutes away.

Again the driver fled the scene and the pedestrian was whisked to a local hospital. Police again described the car as a white sedan driving west on Derry Rd. However, investigators have not officially confirmed whether or not the crashes are connected.

Officers have shut down the southbound turning lane on Dixie Rd. to Derry Rd for the time being.
