An early morning fight in a Niagara Falls apartment building this morning (Sept. 20) has seen two men both hospitalized and charged at the same time.
The police were called to an apartment building on Huron St. and when they arrived, they found both Niagara Falls men suffering from injuries – one of them a stabbing victim.
A 56-year-old man who was stabbed was quickly airlifted to an out-of-region hospital by helicopter while a 52-year-old man was sent to a local hospital with only minor injuries. In both cases, the injuries were non-life-threatening.
Since technically both are victims, the police are not allowed to name them under the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights.
However, the 52-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault while the 56-year-old man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The older man has been released from custody with a pending court while he recuperates in the hospital. The younger man is in custody awaiting video bail hearing to be held at the courthouse in St. Catharines tomorrow (Sept. 21).
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009994.
