Two new all-way stops could soon be implemented in Milton

Milton council is set to discuss the implementation of all-way stops at the intersections of Duncan Ln. at Athlone Dr. and Yates Dr. at Hepburn Rd. at an upcoming meeting.
According to the council report, the Traffic Engineering section has received several inquiries over the past few years requesting that all-way stops be installed at both of those intersections.
The justification for an all-way stop at the intersection of Duncan Ln. at Athlone Dr. is due to the fact that it is considered a three-legged intersection within an urban area. Additionally, Duncan Ln. is a collector roadway that runs north and south between Holloway Terr. and Holmes Cres. with a posted speed limit of 50 km/h. Athlone Dr. is also a local roadway that runs east and west between Scott Blvd. and Duncan Ln., with a posted speed limit of 50 km/h.
As for the all-way stop at Yates Dr. and Hepburn Rd., the justification is that it is a four-legged intersection within an urban area. Additionally, Yates is a collector roadway that runs north and south from Louis St. Laurent Ave. and runs east and west to Bennett Blvd. with a posted speed limit of 50 km/h. Hepburn Rd. is also a collector roadway that runs east and west between Gibson Cres. and Bennett Blvd., with a posted speed limit of 50 km/h.
Both intersections have met warrants for the implementation of all-way stops which will help to make Milton’s roads safer for the community.
According to the council report, the cost to install the appropriate signage and pavement markings will be approximately $1,200.00, which would be provided for within the 2022 Operating Budget.
