Two men are facing charges and another pair are being hunted by police in connection with a violent carjacking in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police say the victim was sitting in his car in the parking lot of a commercial plaza at Bristol and McLaughlin Rds. at about 5 p.m. on March 2 when he was approached by a man.

The man started a conversation with the victim, then assaulted him as he sat in his vehicle, police say.

Three other men quickly joined in the assault before the victim was able to escape and call 9-1-1.

One of the culprits fled in the man’s car while the other three fled the area in a second vehicle, according to police.

The victim was treated at hospital for minor injuries.

The following day, investigators with the Peel police Central Robbery Unit spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Creditview and Britannia Rds. in the northwest part of the city.

Two men were arrested and the stolen car was recovered by police.

Hassan Boutari, 30, of Mississauga, and Karim Hegazy, 24, of Newcastle, are facing robbery charges.

They’re scheduled to appear in Brampton court on May 10.

The two other men being sought by police are described only as being in their early 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3402 or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
