Two men are celebrating big lotto wins in Mississauga.

OLG says Martin Reid, 28, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the June 22, 2020, Daily Grand draw to win $100,000.

Reid, a construction worker, was at the store buying his ticket for an upcoming Lotto Max draw when he decided to use the ticket checker to scan his ticket and saw what he thought was a $1,000 prize.

“I scanned the ticket again and then froze when I saw the actual amount – $100,000,” he told OLG.

“I left the store right away! When I told my dad, he told me to calm down and relax and said, ‘This is a good thing.'”

Reid told OLG that he plans to invest his winnings and purchase a house.

“There are no words. It’s peace of mind,” he concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hasty Market on McLaughlin Road in Brampton.

OLG also said that Mississauga man Frank Pesce is $77,777 richer after winning with Instant Tripling Red 7S (Game #2186).

OLG said the married father of two discovered his win while using the ticket checker at a retail location.

“I scanned the ticket and the screen showed the Big Winner message,” he told OLG.

“I didn’t believe it, so I scanned the ticket again and then asked the clerk to check it too. I was shocked!”

Pesce said he immediately told his wife and kids about the win.

“They said I deserve this win because of the tough year I’ve had,” he told OLG, adding that faced an illness earlier this year but is expected to fully recover.

“This win feels enlightening.”

The municipal facilities operator told OLG that he plans to pay bills and help his children by sharing some of his winnings with them. He also plans to buy his wife something nice.

“It feels fantastic. It’s a very good feeling,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Eglinton Husky on McLaughlin Road in Mississauga.

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre.
