A Mississauga man is already planning his dream getaway after a pair of lottery wins worth more than $100,000.

Muhammad Fasihi of Mississauga says he’s only been playing the lottery for a few months, but always goes for the Encore when buying a ticket.

The 33-year-old marketing professional said he was out running errands when he stopped to check his numbers for the Dec. 29 Lotto Max draw and got a huge surprise.

“I gave the ticket to the clerk and the lottery terminal shut down,” Fasihi said while picking up his winnings at the OLD prize centre in Toronto. “The clerk told me OLG was going to call because I am a big winner.”

He scored big with a $100,000 prize, matching the last six of seven numbers in the Encore draw. Fasihi also won a second prize of $2, bringing his total winnings to $100,002.

Fasihi said at first he was confused but called his father to tell him about the win.

“I never win anything like this,” he said. “I called my dad, and he didn’t take me seriously. I had to tell him it was true three times.”

Fasihi said plans to share his windfall with his parents and travel the world, saying he might start off in Europe.

Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1 with a draw every day. OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Becker’s Convenience Store on Mississauga Valley Boulevard in Mississauga.
