Two Hamilton men charged in ‘attempted violent carjacking:’ police

Police in Hamilton charged two local men in what they’re calling “an attempted violent carjacking.”

Thursday (Jan. 20) at around 5:30 p.m., two suspects approached the victim who was leaving their workplace in the area of Bay and Main St. The suspects made demanded that the victim hand over the keys to their vehicle and brandished a firearm.

Police say the victim declined their demands and the suspects fled before they were located and arrested by responding officers.

A replica firearm was seized during the arrest.

A 34-year-old man was charged with:

  • Robbery with intent to steal
  • Firearm – Use during an offence
  • Five counts of Fail to Comply Probation
  • Five counts of Possession Contrary to Order

A 28-year-old man was charged with:

  • Robbery with intent to steal
  • Firearm – Use during an offence
  • Six counts of Fail to Comply Probation
  • Fail to Comply Release Order

The two men were held by police for a bail hearing.
