Two from Brampton charged with five counts of attempted murder

A man and woman from Brampton are facing five counts of attempted murder after a shooting behind an apartment building.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning at around 1:20 a.m.

Peel Police say five victims were in the greenspace behind an apartment building in the area of Dixie Rd. and Queen St. in Brampton when the accused allegedly shot at the victims.

One victim was transported to a trauma centre in serious condition, and a second victim was treated and released from a local hospital.

After police executed search warrants at several Brampton homes, 19-year-old Jaheim Powell and 23-year-old Emely Nagulendran were charged with attempted murder. Additionally, Powell was charged with possession for trafficking and possession of a prohibited device.
