The City of Brampton is screening two Disney films for free to kick off the Civic Holiday long weekend.

Movies Under the Stars runs until early September, with three locations in Brampton showing movies every week.

On Friday (July 29), the big screen at Chinguacousy Park will feature a showing of the Oscar-winning sing-along hit Encanto. And on Saturday at Mount Pleasant Square you can catch a screening of Jungle Cruise, starring Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt.

Throughout the summer, Garden Square will feature showings geared towards both the young and more mature crowds including;

  • Sonic the Hedgehog on August 4
  • Dolittle on August 11
  • Avengers: Endgame on August 18
  • Encanto on August 25 and
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home on September 1

Those looking for a somewhat more mature film at Garden Square will be able to enjoy Starlight Saturday Movies every night at 9 p.m, including;

  • Dune on August 20
  • F9, the ninth film in the Fast and Furious series, on September 3

While these movies are geared to a bit older audience, they remain rated between PG and PG-13. Garden Square sits at 12 Main St N.

The lineup for Chinguacousy Park began July 8 with the biggest movie of 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The next few weeks are full of last year’s biggest hits including;

  • James Bond’s 25th flick No Time to Die on August 5
  • Jungle Cruise on August 12
  • Addams Family 2 on August 19
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (starring Mississauga’s own Simu Liu) on August 26

All showings begin at dusk at 9050 Bramalea Rd.

The third and final locale for moviegoers is Mount Pleasant Square at 100 Commuter Dr. They’ll be playing many of the same films as the other two locations with one exceptions including;

  • Spider-Man: No Way Home on August 6
  • Boss Baby: Family Business on August 13
  • Cruella on August 20
  • Sing 2 on August 27

All showings at Mount Pleasant begin at dusk.
