Police are investigating after two people from Mississauga and Brampton were killed in a crash over the Easter long weekend.

The OPP says that just after 8:00 a.m. on Sunday (April 9), officers from the Englehart Detachment were called to a stretch of Hwy 11 in Chamberlain Township, around 10 kilometres north of Englehart.

Police say there was a crash involving two vehicles and that when emergency crews arrived on the scene they found a 25-year-old from Mississauga and a 26-year-old from Brampton were involved in the collision.

Both of the victims were declared dead at the scene, police said, and the highway was shut down for several hours.

The OPP has not released the identities of the deceased and did not say whether the victims were travelling in the same vehicle.

Police said investigators are looking into what caused the crash and the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team has been called in to assist with the investigation.
