Tensions in the Middle-East could reverberate in Hamilton, police say

Two young men from Hamilton have been arrested on numerous charges after what police describe as a “firearm-related incident” in the city last weekend.

Hamilton Police responded to Candlewood Dr. and Rymal Rd. in Stoney Creek around 10 a.m. on Apr. 1 to address the incident. There they found two guns. They arrested two men, aged 22 and 18, two teen boys, aged 17 and 16, and a woman, age 22.

Police have not specified the nature of the incident or if shots were actually fired. They have reported no injuries, however.

Days later on Apr. 3, police announced they had charged two of the group they had arrested.

Duston Douglas MacKenzie, 22 of Hamilton, is charged with eight firearms offences such as possession and careless use. Jacob Gary Dumais, 18, is charged with the same eight gun charges as well as possession contrary to a court order and two counts of breach of probation.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Detective Constable Tom Kersgens at 905-546-3885.
