Two charged in north Oshawa shooting – victim’s wound was accidental and ‘self-inflicted’ police say

Two men have been arrested  – including the victim – in connection to a shooting in an Oshawa parking lot in August.

Police arrived in the Britannia Avenue and Simcoe Street area around 8 p.m. on August 12 to discover two men in a car at the scene. The passenger, 18, had suffered a gunshot wound. Officers found a handgun in the car.

The driver, 20, was arrested on August 30 and charged.

On October 21, police arrested the passenger on a variety of firearm charges after concluding that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted and accidental.

Ali Haider, 18 of Oshawa faces 13 charges including careless use of a firearm, discharging a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and concealed carry.

Izzeddin Alghussein, 20 of Pickering was charged with careless use of firearm, careless use of ammunition, occupying a car with a firearm and possession of a loaded restricted firearm.

Both men will remain in custody until their respective bail hearings.
