Three people were seriously injured in a two-car collision that happened in north Oshawa Friday morning.

The accident occurred just after 11 a.m. on Ritson Road, north of Conlin Road. A silver Chevrolet Cobalt had been travelling north on Ritson when it struck a southbound grey Toyota Corolla.

Police believe the driver of the Cobalt was trying to turn left into a private driveway.

Both drivers of the vehicles were taken to a local hospital with serious, non life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Corolla was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where they remain in critical, but stable condition. All three people are Oshawa residents.

Members of the Durham Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit were on the scene to the scene to investigate. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Anyone with information about this incident or who witnessed this collision is asked to call D/Cst. Bill Scott of the Traffic Services Branch at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5217.
