Two Brampton schools are under hold-and-secure orders after a person with a weapon was reportedly seen outside a school.
Peel Regional Police say officers were called to the area of Great Lakes Dr. and Sandalwood Pkwy. in Brampton around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 14) for reports of a potential threat at a school.
Police say someone reported seeing a person with a weapon outside a school in the area.
Both Harold Brathwaite Secondary School and St. Issac Jogues Catholic Elementary School have been placed on hold-and-secure orders while police are investigating. No injuries have been reported.
Unlike a full lockdown where there is an internal threat that needs containment, a hold-and-secure is used by police when it’s believed there is an external threat.
Update: Peel Regional Police said the hold-and-secure orders had been lifted for both schools shortly after 1:15 p.m. Police said officers were remaining on scene to investigate the allegations.
