Two Brampton and Caledon Amazon fulfillment centres partially closed by health department

Both of Brampton’s Amazon fulfillment centres and one in Caledon have been partially closed by Peel Public Health because of COVID-19 outbreaks.
The large Brampton warehouses, located at 8050 Heritage Rd. and 7995 Winston Churchill Blvd., were forced to take the action as demanded by the health department under the strict new rules imposed under what is called a Section 22 order implemented last month. The Caledon location is at 12724 Coleraine Dr. in Bolton and is under the same order.
Under a Section 22 order, a closure happens when five or more people at a workplace test positive for COVID-19 with a period of 14 days. The closures have been deemed necessary to allow Peel Public Health to stop the further spread of COVID-19 between workers while cases at the warehouse are investigated.
Under a partial closure an entire work area may be closed or a specific shift be sent home but the rest of the workplace is allowed to continue operating.
Peel Public Health does not release the exact number of cases at the affected warehouse, only saying that it involves five or more people.
The workplaces will remain closed until the health department determines it is safe for the employees to return to their jobs.
Currently there are 10 workplaces in Brampton under partial closure and two that are fully closed.
The plants that are fully closed are SHW Pumps & Engine Components Inc. and a KFC take-out restaurant.
Two new Brampton workplaces were added to the list today:
- AlphaPoly Packaging, 296 Walker Dr.
- Canadian Textile Services Fabric Dryers & Finishers, 44189 Summerlea Rd.
