Two arrested, one at large after alleged pair of break-ins in Oakville

Two men were arrested, and another is being sought, following a break-in at an Oakville store Monday night.

Halton police said they were called to River Oaks Convenience in Oakville, northwest of Upper Middle Road and Neyagawa Boulevard around 11 p.m. on June 8 in response to an active break and enter.

Upon arrival, three suspects attempted to flee the area on foot. One was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit and a second was arrested after a search of the area. Attempts to identify the third suspect are ongoing.

A quantity of cigarettes and lottery tickets were recovered at the scene along with a stolen BMW SUV which investigation determined to have been taken earlier in the evening from a second break and enter at Suntire Auto Service in Oakville.

At that locations, suspects forced entry into the garage area of the business taking the vehicle as well as cash from the till.

Istvan Fazekas, 27, of Etobicoke, and Sandor Simko, 20, of Mississauga, have been charged with, among other things two counts of break and enter, possession of stolen property and possession of break and enter tools.

Both were subject to previous release orders at the time of their arrests and have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
