Two arrested after altercation at Brampton gas station leads to gunfire

Two people were arrested in Brampton after a gas station altercation led to gunfire at a residence.
The incident occurred on Oct. 21, at around 10:20 p.m. Peel Police say two males got into an altercation at the Petro Canada on Main St. and Charolais Blvd.
The males parted ways, according to witnesses; however, police say the male suspect followed the victim home with a female passenger, where the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and pulled the trigger.
The bullet struck the residence, but the victim was not harmed.
Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Mikal Richards of Brampton. A search of his residence on Nov. 17 produced a loaded .40 calibre Tauras pistol and multiple rounds of ammunition.
Richards was charged with the following:
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Police say Richards was already on probation for firearms-related offences and prohibited from carrying weapons.
Amelia Almeida, a 23-year-old female from Toronto, was also arrested and charged with the following:
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Both parties have since appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing.
