It’s a better day for bus kids trying to get to school with just 20 routes cancelled in three communities in Durham Region, half of them involving high schools.

Most routes are running and are on time.

Schools affected by today’s cancellations (May 3) are Dwyer and McLaughlin high schools and Dr. SJ Phillips (AM only) and St. Anne (PM only) elementary schools in Oshawa; Cadarackque, St. Catherine of Sienna and Terry Fox schools in Ajax; and Holy Trinity and Clarington Central high schools and Clarington Intermediate and Charles Bowman elementary schools in Clarington.

There are four routes cancelled today to Clarington Central Secondary and Intermediate schools.

Bus drivers are still wanted in Durham and Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario, which is responsible for school buses in Clarington, has a message on their website that they are “always looking” for new drivers and will provide training and help with obtaining the necessary license.

“If you enjoy driving a vehicle and interacting with students and their families, the job might be for you.”
