Charges have been laid against a truck driver after a cargo load of sheet metal ended up spilling onto a Caledon roadway.

The OPP said that officers from the Caledon detachment had inspected a transport truck following an incident on Friday.

A picture shared by police shows dozens of pieces of sheet metal coming from the trailer of a cargo truck, with some of its contents strewn around the side of the road.

Police say no other drivers were injured when the cargo came loose but the driver of the truck was charged with multiple offences under the Highway Traffic Act, including fail to properly secure load and operate commercial motor vehicle with load not secured.

The incident has the OPP reminding commercial truck drivers to always inspect their loads before heading out of the road or risk charges and fines.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the accused.
